House 9 presented the Three Birds Renovations trio with the challenge of transforming an average sized, Aussie suburban eye-sore, into a glamorous family home. Faced with outdated colours, a flat front and countless hurdles along the way, the ladies sure did have to use every trick in the book to get the job done. What was once one of the most unattractive houses on the street, is now a gorgeous little home that overflows with charisma and street appeal!

You just can’t go past the charming Luxaflex® Canopy® Awnings that were used to add character and dimension to the front façade. The addition of these traditional awnings in a black and white striped fabric, worked perfectly with the colour scheme and certainly added to the chic ‘French flavour’ of the house.
The inclusion of Luxaflex® LumiShade® throughout House 9, was an exciting first for the Three Birds Renovation Team. These blinds were used to dress the doors and windows in the front Lounge Room, Sitting area, Guest Bedroom and Master Suite.
A contemporary take on a classic window covering, Luxaflex® LumiShade® combines the versatility of a vertical blind with the elegant appeal of a soft window furnishing. Featuring the premium Luxaflex EDGE Vertical track system and soft sheer fabric, Luxaflex® LumiShade® provides the perfect balance of style, durability and child safety features and was a perfect solution for this gorgeous family home.
Another key benefit of Luxaflex® LumiShade® is the light control that they offer. The individually curved fabric vanes feature an alternating light filtering and room darkening fabric panel that can be simply rotated for sheer light control or total privacy. Furthermore, the use of LumiShade®, especially over doors, helps to promote seamless indoor-outdoor living, as you can conveniently walk through the individual fabric vanes whether they are opened or closed. This was ideal for the Three Birds team as the French doors, particularly those included in the extension, were designed specifically to open up the space and provide a smooth flow out to the deck.
Luxaflex® LumiShade® in the colour ‘Slate’ was chosen to dress the French doors in the Master suite. The bold choice in colour, paired with the soft fabric finish of these shades, worked perfectly with the retro, ‘old school glamour’ style of the room. The ability to walk through these blinds, even when closed, was ideal as the doors opened out onto a private deck.
The ‘old school’ glamorous feel of the master bedroom continued on throughout the ensuite. Bonnie used a beautiful mix of pastel diamond tiles, gold tap ware, black sink, mirror and vanity to create a perfectly balanced space. Another design feature of the ensuite included a large clear glass window that allowed the natural light to pour through.
As with any bathroom, privacy control was of course crucial. The Three Birds team cleverly combated this issue with the addition of a motorised Luxaflex® Evo Cable Awning. With a touch of a button, this Evo Awning can be closed to provide privacy when needed in the ensuite, opened to let the light through or positioned anywhere in between!
Bonnie opted for the Evo Awning hardware and fabric in the colour ‘Mombasa’, which worked perfectly with the Dulux paint colour used on the house façade. This stylish straight drop awning also provides sun and UV protection and will help to block out the unwanted heat coming through the glass in summer.
When selecting the window covering solution for the nursery, light control and child safety were crucial factors to consider. Luxaflex® Duette® Shades were recommended for the nursery and certainly proved to be the perfect solution for the space. The Duette® fabric in blockout opacity provides complete room darkening and zero view-through when closed, creating the ideal environment for a baby to sleep, even during the day. The pleated fabric design of these shades also means they can be stacked tightly up into the head rail to allow light through when open, ready for play time!
